Smells amazing, but..

I bought the Folklore conditioner because it was on sale and because it’s my favorite scent of all. It smells amazing in the bottle, and still amazing after my hair dries. Unfortunately, my hair isn’t responding well to it. It became coarse, stringy, and dry. I could use a leave in conditioner to help, but then that would cover the folklore scent, which is why I bought this pricey conditioner in the first place. I never spend this kind of money on a hair product, my hair isn’t finicky or color-treated, so this was a splurge. I went back to my regular one for now and I’m considering trying to make the folklore one into a leave-in conditioner but want to be sure I don’t waste it so it will take some research. Hopefully I can salvage it because it really does smell so good! It absolutely kills me to leave anything but 5 stars on a Sparta product because I’m always so happy and love the company and people, but this one was a disappointment :(
